Completion of Neoen Australia’s Culcairn Solar Farm
Bouygues Construction Australia, a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction operating in Australia, is proud to celebrate the completion of Neoen Australia’s Culcairn Solar Farm, a flagship renewable energy project delivered over the past year!
With an ability to produce more than 800,000 MWh of renewable energy per year, the 440 MWp solar farm is now helping power nearly 160,000 homes with clean energy.
Together with JV partner Equans Solar & Storage, the project has achieved outcomes that are sustainable, culturally respectful, and community focused. Throughout the project, collaboration with Neoen Australia and the strong team spirit developed during construction played a key role in its delivery. Importantly, meaningful engagement with the Wiradjuri people — the traditional owners of the land — also helped establish strong connections with the local community.
The use of innovative construction technologies also shaped the successful delivery of this flagship asset, with trials of autonomous piling machines, survey robots, and technologies for module installation and quality control implemented across the site.
The project represented an incredible human endeavour, with 600 workers (152 FTE) mobilised at peak construction, all contributing to the delivery of the largest solar farm ever built by the company.
The successful completion of Culcairn Solar Farm reflects how infrastructure projects can work in harmony with the environment and local communities to leave a positive legacy.
