Sustainable water management

    Ensuring safe water transfer

We design tunnels that can collect, drain and convey water to protect both natural and man-made environments.

Au premier plan, un étang triangulaire est entouré d'herbe verte et d'un chemin en béton menant à un talus paysager sous un ciel bleu nuageux.

Efficient storage for better water treatment

We build structures, often underground, specifically designed to store water ahead of treatment, which allows for sustainable resource conservation.

Finding solutions to meet water management challenges

We design infrastructure that address natural resource management challenges, factoring in geological, urban and environmental constraints. Every project we take on is designed with its end use in mind as we safely and sustainably collect, store and transfer water.

    Expertise in complex underground structures

Drawing on our many years of experience, we manage all excavation techniques – from traditional methods to tunnel boring machines – to construct structures of all sizes. On the Pawtucket project in the United States, a 3.5 km tunnel stores rainwater, wastewater and industrial effluent prior to treatment.

    Adapting to specific local needs

We design and build reservoirs and basins that have been calculated for effective water flow regulation. In Villejuif in the south of Paris, a 50,000 m³ semi-underground reservoir stores drinking water with minimal visual impact on the surrounding environment.

Protecting the health of aquatic environments

Our projects play a role in preventing waste from being discharged directly into the natural environment. In Washington DC, the Potomac River tunnel will collect excess water and prevent the bay from becoming polluted, which will lead to a lasting improvement in water quality.

Maximising performance throughout the entire life cycle

From design through to operation, we address sustainability and performance needs to deliver long-term, efficient infrastructure.

Infrastructure designed to protect water resources

We design and build civil engineering structures for storing and transferring water, which play a crucial part in managing natural resources.

Infrastructure systems consisting of drainage tunnels, basins, reservoirs and associated treatment facilities are designed to collect, transport and store rainwater, wastewater and industrial effluent before treatment. Such projects address the growing challenges posed by extreme weather events, by urbanisation and by the conservation of natural environments.

In Hong Kong, for example, a 10.5-kilometre tunnel drains stormwater and discharges it directly into the sea, which greatly reduces the risk of flooding. The sustainable solutions we develop are designed according to local needs and requirements, and are always intended to serve the interests of the region and its residents.

High technical performance and low environmental impact

Constructing underground structures is complex, requiring advanced expertise in tunnelling techniques and close coordination between specialists. On the Pawtucket Tunnel project in the United States, the team can adapt to varying geological conditions and ensure the safety of the works thanks to a dual-mode TBM (tunnel boring machine).

This infrastructure plays a key role in conserving water resources. It enables the temporary storage of excess water, prevents the discharge of pollutants and optimises the operation of wastewater treatment plants.

We are committed to “building for life”; this is reflected in our development of sustainable water infrastructure designed for low environmental impact and to support local communities in addressing climate change and water management challenges.
