A major innovation for floating wind turbines

Acquired exclusively by Bouygues Travaux Publics in 2022, OO-STAR technology was developed by Norwegian company Dr.techn Olav Olsen, an expert in infrastructure design for the oil and gas industry. It consists of a semi-submersible platform composed of three satellite floats arranged in a star pattern (hence the name of the concept) around a central float housing the wind turbine.

Suitable for modular construction, this base can be assembled at dock or at sea with a reasonable draft before being towed to the installation site. Its hydrodynamic and structural behavior, tested over a decade, guarantees optimal turbine performance even in the most severe weather conditions.

A comprehensive and cost-effective solution

In order to meet market expectations in terms of turbine performance (efficiency, operability, resistance to marine conditions, etc.), as well as economic competitiveness and deadlines, Bouygues Travaux Publics strives to optimize the design and implementation of its OO-STAR float technology.

The aim is to offer a comprehensive service covering design, construction, installation, operation, maintenance and dismantling. Bouygues Travaux Publics is exploring ways of optimizing accessibility to floats by personnel and intervention vessels for maintenance, the design of specific production facilities and decommissioning at the end of the concession period.
