A leading hospital for the Nord-Deux-Sèvres region

Located in Faye-l’Abbesse, the Centre Hospitalier Nord Deux-Sèvres is a major healthcare facility designed to consolidate the operations of the hospitals in Thouars, Bressuire, and Parthenay into a single site. Designed and built as a turnkey project, this nearly 27,000-square-meter facility houses a comprehensive medical, surgical, and obstetric center with nearly 300 beds and patient spaces, as well as state-of-the-art technical facilities including operating rooms, imaging, pharmacy, laboratories, and a helipad.

This centralization improves the quality of care, medical continuity, and organizational efficiency for a vast rural area. Designed to meet contemporary hospital requirements, the building features a compact and adaptable layout that streamlines patient pathways and logistics.

Its horizontal architecture, which layers distinct functional zones—logistics, reception, outpatient clinics, and inpatient units—ensures clarity, accessibility, and operational efficiency.

Completed in 30 months, the project demonstrates the ability to deliver complex healthcare infrastructure within controlled timelines while engaging a network of local businesses and promoting professional integration

A high-performance hospital powered by
biomass energy

The Centre Hospitalier Nord Deux-Sèvres stands out for its ambitious environmental design, aimed at sustainably reducing its energy footprint.
The facility is heated entirely by biomass, supplemented by energy recovery systems that cover a significant portion of its needs. Exterior thermal insulation, triple-glazed windows, and adiabatic cooling help ensure optimal comfort for patients while limiting energy consumption.

HQE™-certified, the project also incorporates measures to preserve biodiversity and enhance landscaping, notably including the planting of several hundred trees.

Located in the heart of the Poitou bocage, the building blends into its rural surroundings thanks to a sober, mineral-based architecture combining gabions, bricks, and large openings, as illustrated by the layered composition described by the architect (logistics base, reception level with a viewing terrace, upper inpatient units).

Beyond its technical performance, the hospital serves as a key driver for access to healthcare and the region’s appeal.
