A major university hospital serving Abidjan

Delivered by SETAO, a subsidiary of Bouygues Bâtiment International, the Yopougon university hospital is a key public healthcare facility developed to serve one of Abidjan’s most densely populated districts.

Built on a 30,000 square meters site, the hospital offers a total capacity of 508 beds and is organised to ensure efficient circulation between medical, technical and support areas. The building includes a fully equipped central operating theatre, an obstetrical unit, dedicated patient floors, and areas designed to accommodate families.

Support functions are concentrated at basement level, with facilities including a laundry room, boiler room, kitchens, cleaning units and archive spaces. A distinctive technical feature of the project lies in the construction of the floor slabs, which were cast on site using an inflatable air-cushion concrete system, allowing precise execution adapted to the hospital’s functional requirements.

Commissioned by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Construction of Ivory Coast, the Yopougon Hospital remains a reference project illustrating SETAO’s long-standing expertise in delivering large-scale public healthcare infrastructure.
