Construction of a 35-kilometre motorway.
Built as part of a 35-year concession, Highway 2000 is the first toll motorway in the Republic of Jamaica. It links the capital Kingston to Mandeville, a bauxite mining town in the west of the island. Located between the sea and a lagoon, this 35-kilometre construction project included doubling and upgrading to motorway standard the Old Harbour Bypass, an existing 14-kilometre route, including a 7-kilometre section with particularly difficult geotechnical conditions.

An ambitious response to challenging ground conditions.
Poor-quality, highly compressible subsoil and local seismic conditions required the use of advanced ground improvement techniques and deep foundations.
In order to preserve the site's natural resources, this project was also subject to a demanding Quality-Safety-Environment plan.
Highway 2000 has enabled users to reduce their journey times by a factor of four.
