Improving the quality of life for residents
Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France carried out thermal refurbishment and residential conversion work on the Les Toits de Belleville housing complex, renovating 364 apartments dating from 1979 in seven apartment buildings and creating 44 additional apartments by adding extra floors.
The renovation work carried out by our teams included refurbishing wet rooms, bringing the buildings up to technical standards, replacing joinery, installing external insulation, improving the heating and ventilation system, and refurbishing the common areas. All the work was carried out while the buildings remained occupied.

A wooden extension
In order to meet the challenges of redevelopment and revitalization set by the city of Paris, 44 additional housing units were created by adding a wooden structure to the top of the building.
The addition of the extra floor meant that the foundations did not need to be reinforced and structural repairs to the lower floors were kept to a minimum. The aim was to minimize the environmental and social impact of the project.
Thirty-nine cubic meters of wood were used in the 3,500-square-meter extension, representing 7,200 square meters of timber-framed walls and floors. The use of wood saved 326 tons of CO₂.
