Exceptional architectural audacity

Located at the entrance to the La Défense business district, the Alto Tower enjoys exceptional accessibility. Built on the site of the Saisons office building, the project, which included the construction of a car park, shops, and a vast 2,000 m² square developed with the Établissement public d’aménagement de la Défense Seine Arche (EPADESA), contributes to the urbanization of the circular boulevard and connects the Ancre de Courbevoie district with the La Défense business district.

The 150-meter-high Alto Tower has a total of 38 floors above ground and three levels below ground. It stands out for its façade clad in 3,600 glass scales and its flared shape, with floor areas ranging from 700 m² at the base of the tower to 1,500 m² at the top, extending slightly more with each floor.

Geometrically, the tower increases its perimeter by approximately 75 cm per level. In plan, it is neither round nor rectangular, but has three straight lines, three main curves, and two counter-curves, for a total of eight changes of direction.

The shapes of the 51,000 m² tower respond to the site's significant spatial constraints, with the aim of making maximum use of the available space and the possibilities offered by the Local Urban Development Plan (PLU).

Alto's interior design was conceived around two essential concepts: fluidity and well-being. Natural shapes, the omnipresence of light, and particular attention to collaborative spaces are the hallmarks of this dual philosophy.

A responsible high-rise building

A double insulated skin, the “breathable” glass facade allows natural ventilation of the wall while concealing the insulation. From the fifth floor upwards, it houses air intakes on the north and south sides, allowing each floor to be ventilated more naturally and economically.

Elan acted as environmental project management assistant to Linkcity, with the task of supporting the company in obtaining the Effinergie+ label, conducting a WELL feasibility study, commissioning, carrying out an energy study, and providing ecological expertise.

Alto has obtained BREEAM® Outstanding, HQE® Exceptional, WiredScore Platinum, and Wellcore Shell Silver certifications.
